HYDERABAD: World Entrepreneurs Day was hosted by the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center (IEC) at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology in partnership with Pak-US Alumni Network (PUAN). The University leadership, faculty and students, and national and foreign guests celebrated the world entrepreneurs Day (WED) with full enthusiasm and passion to encourage the students to take creative initiatives. The purpose of the event was to inculcate in students the spirit of entrepreneurship. While addressing the audience, the Chief Guest, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali appreciated the efforts of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center for celebrating the World entrepreneurs’ day and also appreciate the contribution made by each and every one involved in making this WED a wonderful and rewarding experiences for our entrepreneurial ecosystem. He said, in the coming years students of Mehran University will become job providers instead of job seekers. He emphasized that entrepreneurs can play a vital role in the development by taking moderate amount of risk, being ethical and socially responsible. The Presiding Host and Managing Director of IEC Dr. S.M Qureshi while addressing the audience said entrepreneurship has its importance in corporate sector as well as social sector. No doubt, entrepreneurship is profit generating but yet responsible to give back to the society, and develop civic sense and character building characteristics. He urged the young generation to rise out of the Middle-Class trap. The Dean of Faculty of Science, Technology and Humanities, Prof Dr Abdul Sami Qureshi appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the talented students of Mehran University. Dr Zulfiqar Ali Umrani, Manager IEC, in his welcome address said entrepreneurs create new jobs, ignite innovation, and make significant contributions to the country’s economy. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili for supporting the implementation of Innovation and Entrepreneurship culture at Mehran University. Prof Dr Tanweer Hussain praised the IEC center and the student societies for their success in his Thank you note. There were technical talks by Prof. Dr Zeeshan Khatri (CEO MUETech Pvt Ltd), Ms Tabish (Director HR, BridgePower Pvt Ltd), Dr Najma (CEAC, Sindh University) and Mr Riaz Shaikh (Deputy Manager IEC). The event was attended by senior leadership of the university including Dean of Engineering Sciences, Prof Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman Memon, Mr Saghir Ahmed Memon (Director Works & Strategic Planning), Prof Dr Inamullah Bhatti (Director ORIC), Prof Dr Farman Shah (Chairman Chemical Engineering Department) and international guest from Malaysia Prof Dr Tamin (University of Technology, Malaysia).
